DEPARTMENTAL GOALS AND STRATEGIES
One of the most important duties of the Sheriff is to clearly communicate transparent goals to the community. When it comes to departmental goals, mine are relatively simple. I have no desire to radically alter the Sheriff's Office and turn it into something it's not
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
With one city, nine towns, two census designated areas, seven unincorporated communities, and almost 8,000 square miles of county, Carbon County is a vast area. The implementation of a proper area coverage plan is needed. We currently do not possess any type of coverage assignments and the majority of deputies are located in Rawlins at any given time. In addition, we currently do not provide twenty-four coverage. In fact, there are no deputies on duty for over 30% of each day. The goal of improving area coverage, shortening response time, and increasing deputy presence are paramount to my operating platform.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Not only are members of the Sheriff's Office assigned to serve the community, we are members of the community ourselves. Instead of simply "catching bad guys" or "fighting crimes," meaningful community engagement should be a top priority for the Carbon County Sheriff's Office . Whether that means doing a school walk-through or showing up at a rodeo, meaningful community interaction is integral to establishing trust and transparency within the community we serve.
PROFFESIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
With a county as large as ours, our Sheriff's Office works with a variety of entities in the name of Public Safety. Fire departments, ambulance services, search and rescue, and other law enforcement agencies are just a few examples. Increased training and collaboration will help us work more efficiently together to deliver better services to the members of Carbon County.
